FAQ

What are route guides?

Blind people and those with poor vision use their sense of touch and hearing to find their way. They use environmental elements that they can detect and follow. The white cane helps detect obstacles in the nearby area.

drawing sensesGuide lines provide extra directional help when they are in transport. These types of environmental adaptations are actually helpful to those without visual impairments, too. We all use them to subconsciously orient ourselves. In the best case scenario, the natural design around a building is developed so that its primary functions are easily accessible. If unclear or complex situations still arise, then additional elements are required: it does not matter if they are natural or artificial. The more space that is accessible to the public (streets, squares, etc.), the more often people will work with artificial directional guides, such as guide lines and studded tiles.
